If the board was working with that rom then it's either not using guru 
rom at all, or someone managed to create an unprotected version.

However I thought the board performed bank switching because the rom was 
larger than the original space available, I considered reverse 
engineering it but I have so many things I want to do that it hasn't 
made the top of the list.
