REU Rom Socket?

Hello All,
I was recently poking around inside my 1750 REU wondering whether I'd risk
my one-and-only REU to a 2MB expansion.... and I noticed that there is an
area for a ROM socket and jumper pads labelled ROM Hi, ROM Lo etc....

What are these for? was RAMDOS been implemented in ROM on some units? any
binary images exist and info about the jumper configuration and memory map?

Cheers,
- Nick
