Ruud,
The disk drive blinks like a IEEE drive, but there is no speaker 
twirp.  After I test the system with a new CRT chip, I will get into the 
deeper volt meter and oscilloscope stuff.  I don't have a spare 8296, but I 
do have some 8032's I can swap chips with.  I also plan to take the drive 
controller out and swap that with a sfd-1001 controller if need be.
