In fact the DOS1 is not only included in VICE (as "dos2040") but also on
funet on http://www.funet.fi/pub/cbm/firmware/drives/old/4040/index.html
as 901468-06.bin and 901468-07.bin, I just checked that the files are
identical (i.e. dos204 with the concatenation of the two funet files).
