My suggestion is find a device which is supported by Linux. The chances are that the source will be open-licence and you will probably be able to extract the coding logic from C. Any device now made by Logitec is a lost cause as after they by out companies (eg with Connectix)they clean out the web of any useful interfacing information, and threaten to prosecute!
