Go over to the Linux side and have a look around there for your
devices.  I know there are programs to dump the Palm Pilot; I
use pilotxfer.  It works great, especially for a physical backup
of my Palm.

Digital cameras, however, are another matter.  Each one is different.

Maybe you can save some time looking at the source for pilotxfer,
though.
