Nothing visible happens? You could decompress vimm.prg with pucrunch
and try to run that version.

I would advice you to make a uniqueness test also. Poke the high part
of the address to each location, and only after this read them back.

Then, of course there might be something else wrong with your machine,
like VIC-I never reaching raster line 0, but this is less probable.
