I doublechecked things by replacing the ROMs and the 6530 of a working 4040
with the DOS 1 versions. The computer answered "file not found" again. I
haven't digged up the SCHs yet but I assume the 6530 is responcible for
reading the actual data. So if there is something wrong with its I/O, one
can expect the above message. Unless someone has another explanation.

That's why expected different ROM-images. An earlier mail expressed my
confusin: we have three machines and only 2 DOS-versions.
