Right Nate,

But most of that is because the sector read is so slow. I think that 
1570/1571 is faster than 1541 only because of 2MHz (but may be 
mistaken). 1581 reads a whole (half)track at a time, which already seems 
to speed up the transfers considerably. And you don't need jiffydos if 
you use standard burst or custom floppy code with burst or burst-derived 
transfer protocol.
