The 6569 was used up to board revision 250466 in the C64. This is the 
board that already uses 64Kx4 DRAM (41464). I own a C64C (the flat case) 
with this board (using a 6569R5) but I also heard that this board was 
used in the breadbox case.

The next board revision was 250469 which switched to the 85xx-Chips for 
CPU, VIC and SID and eliminated most of the TTL logik with the 64pin PLA.

I also own a 250407 board (the last one with the discrete PLL instead of 
the MOS 8701) with a 6569R3 in Ceramic. This board also came with the 
6569R1 from what I can find on the web.

Looks like the 6569R5 came relatively late, all the ones I have are 
stamped with a '86 datecode.
