I already got that impression when reading Spiros disassembly and you
confirmed it. So M-W cannot be used. In fact, it is not needed at all! 
So the next idea is using B-R and M-R on one side and only B-W on the other:
- B-R copies the data from the sector to memory. But 'open....,"#"'
  won't do, we must choose a particular buffer otherwise we don't
  know what part of the memory the floppy uses.
- M-R copies the data from memory to the CBM
