It seems that André already found a way to circumvent the mentioned
problem. As the listing shows, then mentioned readfdc7 is just the one
he lists on his homepage (see header line):

Uhhhh, now what's that! I just found the _true_ message about the DOS 1
readout inability of William's tool. It was in c.s.c, not in cbm-hackers:

As for dumping the RRIOT's ROM contents, I would go for Andrč's tool if
that is usable for you. From the message above that I just read, it
should work even with DOS 1.
