I have no information on part number 355640-01, but this series of part 
numbers was not in use at the time of the 1541-II, or even the 1541B and 
1541C.   As your compare shows, the contents are the same as the last 
version of the 1541/1541A/SX64.  It is possible that this ROM was used in 
the first versions of the 1541B, which had a Newtronics drive.

It is also possible that someone used it as a replacement in the 1541-II, 
since they are compatible and use the same drive mechanism.

It would be interesting to know whether this was a mask-programmed ROM or 
an EPROM.
