We have a sort-of working prototype with a 512 kB flash ROM, and a less
working prototype with a 4 MB flash ROM. There are some minor glitches
in the VHDL code or the way the memory banking works. My friend, who
did the VHDL programming, just asked me for the schematics and files
yesterday, so there is some hope of progress. He suggested the idea
in the spring of 2000 (or was it 2001?), and at the current pace, it'll
be ready for the 30th anniversary of the Vic-20.

Actually only two things would need to be finished: the VHDL code for
appropriate memory banking (RAM/Flash, write protect etc.), and software
for creating a file system on the cartridge. (I completed the menu software
for decompressing files from the cartridge already in the beginning of the
project.)

I could release all information now, but given the lack of volunteers with
the C2N232 serial bus code, I don't think that it would help anything.
