Maybe the CIA real-time clock could help: It only relys on the 50/60Hz
pulses derived from 9VAC. So if you read the TOD clock, switch to 2MHz,
run a small idle loop, read the TOD clock again, switch back to 1MHz and
compare the values, you should be able to tell a true C64 from a
C128 in C64 mode system.
