The message "No hard disk found" appears as one of the first messages
outputted by the BIOS. It is the part of the BIOS which detects if there is
a mouse, LPT-port or COM-port available. Purely hardware orientated. Only
after (not) detecting these items the RAM is tested.

FYI: the HD I attached has a Boot Block for sure as I lent it from a working
system.
