Hi I had some issues with the Sid chip not working fully, works one time
and then the next time no sound. In my cost reduced NTSC C64C.

oops I did something to fry the CPU in my 64C so I just tried the 6510 that
worked once but the next time then the Sid chip wouldnt work. I know the
Sid needs the CPU.
The 8500 CPU is plugged into a crappy single wipe socket so I just wonder
if the CPU
just has a bad connection or the socket is bad, seems kind of funky.

Of course the 64C uses the 8580 Sid I do own a few NTSC metal case 128DCR's
so I put the
8580 Sid in one of the 128D's it works just fine, no intermittent problems.

So again I just used a 6510 CPU that works just fine in a breadbin 64 so
the CPU is fine.

I was told the only difference with the MOS 8500 or MOS 6510 is:

8500 CPU CMOS runs cooler
6510 TTL runs hotter
So either can be used in the 64C.

Ray Carlsen told me that BTW.
