I completely understand what happened. I also completely understand that
patent trolls like to boast about such stuff as it is a wonderful
motivator for subsequent victims to pay early or die. That doesn't
necessarily mean that it was the real cause.

The fiscal numbers spaek a clear language what really happened.

We would've *loved* to blame a patent troll on Commodore's demise
back than. Yet the blame was rightfully given to mismanagement and just
losing their grip to the market -- which already became quite noticeable
with Wing Commander in 1990.

However, I cannot remember that the patent was discussed in large (or at
all) in the remaining Commodore-related press back then, nor on
comp.sys.cbm which I followed since 1993.

While memory might fail me here as it is now the better part of 30 years
since then, even Google doesn't help me much but instead shows that
this XOR patent discussion is something that prominently popped up
during the last 10-15 years and is since picked up every now and then.

I put my belief into the sales / revenue / profit numbers, you don't.
That's ok. So let's end this discussion here before we start repeating
ourselves.
