Yeah, those kind of languages really aren't my thing but if you're
looking for a large group of people to adopt your product then it makes
sense to make it look like something they have already got experience with.

Microsoft made Visual Basic.NET look like Visual Basic 6, not for any
technical benefit but because they wanted market share and there were
plenty of people who only knew VB. Be scared if Microsoft produce
something that can take vaguely Visual Basic syntax and produce a
bitstream, as it will probably catch on.
