As I understand it, the main question is: can you run a BBS on a C64?
Yes, you can. A friend of mine had a BBS running in the late 80's on a
C64/1541. Later he expanded to a C128 and two 1571's. And he did it by using
a modem. What confuses me a little bit is the part "hooked to a linux box
via serial cable". Why this extra part? Remark: AFAIK a BBS is contacted by
telephone, not by internet.
