The old style, like the ones I have seen, is just a two pin connector,
which accepts 9-10 volts AC as drawn from a simple step-down
transformer.  Both pins expect AC, one for each end of the secondary on
that transformer.

I guess the other style uses a standard C64 power supply, doesn't it?
