Following up, for my PET/CBM Editor ROM Project I have restructured the 8296 source code and it is able to assemble to a binary exact match for the "324243-04" editor rom. Then I added in support for some enhanced features (wedge, reboot etc) and assembled a new binary.
I'm wondering if there is anyone that can test it for me, either on VICE or real 8296/8296D hardware with DIN keyboard? I do not have a DIN keyboard for my 8296 and for some reason I can not get the DIN keyboard to work for me in VICE (couldn't generate ">" for the wedge commands)

Here are the links:

The filename is:  sjg-edit-8296d-c2-din-50-wedge,bypass (2018-11-28).bin

I need to know if the dos wedge works and the diacritics is still functional.
Thanks!Steve

 Hi,
I'm working on comparing 8296/8296D Editor ROMs and I'm curious about the DIN and French versions with advanced editing features. This is where you press a diacritic key and the cursor does not advance, then you press another key and the editor combines them into the proper letter plus diacritic.
Has anyone seen any official documentation that describes this, or other special features in these roms? Perhaps an addendum sheet?
Thanks!Steve
