Being from 1995, it most definitely emits code that is not compatible
with MS-DOS 1.25...

Lots of new calls were added in MS-DOS 2 and onwards, most notably a new
file I/O API which used filehandles, not FCBs. The new API was much
easier to use, so the programmers quickly switched to it. Any program
using these APIs will not work on on MS-DOS 1.x.
