Great, thanks! That's a big step forward. The chip is indeed an SMPTE Time Code Receiver/Generator. Now the good question where to find those - I seem to be able to source only the "AV" or "B", which may or may not be compatible: "The ICS2008B is an improved version of the ICS2008, with additional features and capabilities". As for the "plus", I tend to believe that it's only a marketing name.
