Yes, I'm reading, although I haven't taken out the C= machines out for 
quite a few years now.

I have been addicted by boardgamegeek.com and board games in general. :D

The display of the 'hires' picture display takes a lot of CPU to switch 
the colors. However, if the memory were visible to VIC-I, then it would 
be feasible as a video mode by bank switching the character memory. 
Still, maybe a reduced resolution would be better (and bank-switch the 
video matrix instead of character memory).

Or use something different, just update the differences between frames.. 
A friend at work implemented this kind of video for one of our audio 
decoding chips, with an encoder plugin for ffmpeg (or was it mencoder).
