What about 64HDD and the 25pin serial to CBM serial cable?  
Does not work great, but works.  This was how I did it before things
like Zoom Floppy.  Of course it was the limitations of the old
serial cable method that lead to the whole uIEC solution...

You can pretty easily make this cable and the software is out there I assume
(or I can send to you).
