I'm wondering why not ;-).

For a project like that, the i8748 clone a.k.a KM1816VE48 might probably
be a choice; it isn't what you'd call a typical sane device either :-),
yet it's IMHO a lot more fun to program and definitely much more stylish
:-) , see
 . (I don't know for sure whether they produced that in the metric
packaging, though.)
