This doesn't work for all hard disk controllers, but you can try just typing 'install dh0:' (where DH0: is the first hard disk partition device name, don't use the volume name) from the AmigaDOS prompt and that may work. As someone else has pointed out, booting from a hard disk is only supported by KS1.3 and up.
