Mylar and/or polyester film with a coating of metallic particles bonded
with a polymer resin. It burns, not very fast, but with an intense heat.
The fumes are moderately toxic. The metal particles, if inhaled, are more
toxic. The fire is difficult to put out. Some years ago, a video tape
processing facility near here caught fire. The fire was so intense, they
could not put it out. It burned for 2 days. The main storage vault,
which was guaranteed to withstand a fire for 24 hours, burned also. It
was a total loss.
