Really? I recall the info being available for as long as I recall IDE64. And both Josef and Soci were very helpful when I needed info for implementing my kernel module. So maybe there were some communication problems.

I see, but I believe it would be worth trying as

a) it is already implemented so possibly a lot could be reused
b) it is well established, with tools, fsck, etc.
c) it would be great to have compatibility and move media between your solution and IDE64 without problem
d) any improvements, new tools or utilities could add value to both projects!

Just my half of a cent ;-)
