Carlo -

The drive is a Chinon FB354C (an FB354B is used on the Amiga 3000). It
appears to be similar to (or perhaps identical to) a 1581 or A500 drive
EXCEPT for 3 things -

1. the eject button is much larger than a 1581 or A500 (but these are
removable from the drive so one could possibly be fabricated)

2. there is no separate power cable or connection on the drive board.

3. the signal cable (and I guess this includes the power) connects to
the drive on the left hand side (viewed from the front) at the back end.
The "cable" is a thin flexible plastic effort with the wires imbedded in
it (similar to the keyboard cable on a 600 or 1200). The are 24 wires in
the cable. I believe you have found the schematics so you might be able
to determine what the signals are and how to connect them to a more
common drive (hopefully). Of course, just to keep things interesting,
the signal cable connects to the motherboard through the same type of
"slip"connection (there must be a proper word for this kind of
connector!?).
