Hm, I had a Plus/4 once but could never get used to the keyboard for 
some reason. Still prefered the C16 over it. The latter also had more 
internal space, allowing for better cooling and expansions.

That was easily remedied with a 74LS04 and a MAX232. Built such a 
converter back then and used the Plus/4 with a quick and very dirty hack 
as a terminal to talk to a 6502 based single board computer.
