Hallo allemaal,

In have given the whole project a second thought.

> ... let's call it 8250IDE,

I decided to rename it for three reasons:
- I have several three 8050's + several loose boards laying around.
- I only have the sources of the 8050.
- IDE implies an IDE device. But what about using a SD-card or something
else?

If anybody has a better name, please let me know!

Here I changed my mind as well. I have various reasons but I give you
the two main ones:
- Compatibility. Staying as close to the original 8050 hopefully
guarantees no timing problems etc. causing software not to run as
expected.
- I can add the needed hardware by replacing the original 6530 with a
board that contains some RAM, (E)EPROM and the desired interface. In
this way no soldering on the original board is needed.
Just an idea: this board could also contain the original 6530 or a 6532
which enables one to use at least one of the original drives as well.
Could come in handy for persons owning only one 8x50 or as a mean to
copy floppy disk from/to the harddisk (or whatever). But maybe some
soldering is needed in need for one or two extra address lines for the
EPROM.

About using a SD-card: AFAIK know this is done by using the SPI protocol
which is just a bit of bit-banging IMHO. For those familiar with using
SD-cards, certainly Jim with his uIEC project, could the Disk Controler
6502 handle a SD-card using a 6532 or 6522?
