That has already existed for years with the MNIB project.  There are
capable people working on a USB version as well.  1541-IDE is a complete
different and worthwhile project.

Most of the time imaging a disk in DOS/Windows is the loading/unloading of
the drivers.  In interactive mode of NIBTOOLS, it takes 7-8 seconds to
image a disk.
