It reminds me that I now have *two* broken 8296D's in my basement!
One used to work for a while after I replaced the 6545. The other
was recently picked up entirely for spare parts. Soon now I'm going
to bring them both upstairs and see if I can combine them into one
working unit or at least diagnose repairable faults.
