You are correct, I should rephrase my statement. I do remember digging
out some NPNs and trying some ideas, but I can't remember what I tried.
Since analog is my achilles heel (Between ECE 309, Fourier, and ECE 310,
Transistors, that was a bad semester at the university), I wouldn't put
much stock in my experiments, even if I could remember what they were.
