Hallo Bill,

> >So it seems something on one of the boards died :(

I did some more tests. I took this particular main board MB, placed it on top of the controller board CB and formatted the miniscribe. No result at the end but.... Putting the working MB in place again I got a directory except that the header was messed up. So it seems that the databus towards the CB is damaged. It is not a matter of a broken bit, I think. But I have a bit more confidence to be able to repair it. (But what caused the damage during the formatting process ?????)

I also had a board with a LED flashing once. Just before going to bed the idea hit me that the 90x0 uses the onboard RAM of one of the 6532's as ZP-RAM. Swapped it with another board with four flashes (2114 RAM problem) and.... BINGO, no flashes! Will test it this evening.

The 5th MB powers up normally but after any disk operation says 'controller board error'.

For André:

Did you mention connecting a SCSI drive to these MB's? And do have some links to information about this SASI interface? The reason I ask is that I think I only have one working CB and IMHO repairing the other will be a though job. One idea I have is using your SCSI idea, another is replacing the CB with a micro-controller and a IDE drive.
TIA!
