Hardly an expert here, but I think I would start by resecuring the
connections from the main board to the mechs, and then reseat (or replace if
poss?) the 6502s.

Subject: Question about interpreting a 8050 disk drive error light pattern

Hi -

I am working on an 8050 disk drive. When I power it on, (usually) both
drives spin briefly. Rather than the normal green-red-green flash pattern
to indicate a healthy drive; the diskette lights "freeze" red and the center
light "freezes" green. After a three or so seconds the drive 0 light starts
to blink slowly. The drive 1 light stays solid red, the center light
remains solid green. Any ideas? I am looking into it on this end, but I
thought I'd ask here too.

The drive is the type with the flip doors, not the normal press and lock
mechanism.
