Well, it is even better seen as a 1540 with a parallel IEEE488
interface. You know, the 1541 came with long and short board - the later
with the ASIC -, while the 1540 only had the long one.

On cbm-archive (at zimmers.net, formerly FUNET), there is the 2031 HP/LP
service manual.

I don't remember the details, but since both of them are handled in one
service manual, I would believe with some confidence that both drives
are very similar.

You might want to recheck with that manual (I just can't, as I'm sitting
in a train).
