Is it necessary to actually define this? The number, type and use of imported
and exported symbols depends on the operating system. I would suggest to let
the OS also determine the character set. For example, there could a be a
reason for a special OS to use strings in PETSCII - and this is no problem,
because other OSes wouldn't load these files anyway.
