Use a large EPROM and encode which kernal you want as address lines.

That's in fact what I've done :-)
Swtich between "open", "expansion port" and "GND"

Only with my kernal. You have to POKE a specific value to $299.
It's on the kernal web page.

The original software _competely_ replaced the serial IEC bus routines-
that's the original reason for me to put that stuff into the kernal.
