No, I don't have a 1581 yet, so there's nothing I can try the handler
with :)

I'm pretty sure he was referring to the fact that his Amiga only has a
DD drive. Since the FD2000 can use 1.44MB MSDOS disks you don't need a
driver to use HD disks, only the right hardware.
