In my 8296D there is also an adaptor board, but IIRC it only adapts the 
pinout of the 26pin connector of the mainboard to the 24pin connector on the 
drive board. I can't remember there are any TTL chips on the board. If 
needed, I can open the machine and make a foto of the board.
