Ethan Dicks found a bug in the sector allocation routine that
allocated sectors from track 18 for files, leading to a full
directory where no more files could be written. I implemented a quick
fix and version 0.91 is now available on the home page:

PS: does anyone have a simple explanation of the 1541 and 1571 sector
    allocation algorithm?
