Yes, but it's more work than using an existing chip for this. If only
the 6522/6526 would have counters instead of timers.
It is too much work compared with a software solution, so my collegues
will vote for the software solution although they already *know* that
this will leave out some countings, it is too unreliable.
We don't have the time to work on a programmable device for this.
