With other words: I waisted quite some time :( I really hoped to present the
C= community with an alternative solution in case
the original HD broke down. OK, I have some loose controllers and MFM-disks
laying around so that's not the problem.
Although your answer is not one I loved to hear, thanks anyway.

Hmmm, weird idea: the XT-bus is nothing more then some registers read/writen
by a uControler. What about using a PIC or ATMEL that on one side emulates
the XT-bus and is connected to an IDE-drive on the otherside? The problem is
that I face three problems:
- have no knowledge of PICs or ATMELs but that can be overcome
- pinout of the XT-bus?
- what is the exact registersetting and its behaviour?

I close this chapter for the moment and return to to my other projects for
the moment.
