I located a company who is currently manufacturing a suitable low-profile adapter based on your design: https://corei64.com/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=235 In the interim, I borrowed a 6530 from my 4040 drive and confirmed this was indeed the issue! The SFD1001 passes all tests with that chip. I've ordered an adapter board and will report back here with my experience. If there is an issue, I may still take you up on the offer.
