The Kernal, the Basic or the Character ROM? The fact that the screen is clear means that the VIC chip, the CPU, the character ROM, and part of the kernal ROM are working. The sytem has hung before Basic initialized. This would mean either the kernal ROM, Basic ROM, or not enough low RAM are working.
