And when you do, and your mail client silently replies to the list instead
of just to the author as you intended, well that can be *very* embarrassing
(and harmful in other ways).

a) Use a better mail client;
b) Configure it well;
c) Hope the mailing lists you use don't try "creative" things.

All these problems are caused by MUAs and MLMs doing non-standard (and
wrong) things, in a futile attempt to work around other MUAs and MLMs
doing wrong things.
