Why don't you try "cbmctrl dir 8 1"? Doesn't this work for you?

From the man page:

    cbmctrl dir <device> [<drive>]

output the directory of the disk in the specified drive
This command gets the directory of a disk in the
    drive.

<device> is the device number of the drive (bus ID).
<drive> is the drive number of a dual drive (LUN), default is 0.

Spiro.
